The Video is here!

Frame from MOONS

…10 weeks in the making and shot on several locations including Kips Bay
and Tudor City Manhattan, a live show and Riis Landing (when the beach was
"closed" during the shutdown).

This video is being released prior to the WHOTE II : MOONS LP/CD and
introduces the range of sounds and visual material gathered in its
preparation. The track was arranged specifically for this video premier.
The upcoming album version can be heard at the Bandcamp link below.

This is a first in undertaking a large scale video project, every hour was
spent making it right in both arrangement and execution. We worked on it
until the initial idea, based on dreams, became a realty. I believe you
will enjoy...

Moons: Video in the works

Here are a few stills from the upcoming video for Whote II : Moons.  Shot on select locations in Manhattan and Riis Landing National Park.

Conceptualization began in August on this project and it was the first time to put anything on paper for film. Immediately we thought of the script, site locations and potential models for a four minute video.

The video was shot in three parts: Live footage from New York City, Sites around Manhattan (Tudor City and Kips Bay) as well as Riis Landing Beach.

More to come soon. Friend us on Facebook, check out a few tracks on Bandcamp or visit the Whote homepage for updates and pics as they surface.

09/15/13 NYC

09/15/13 was a special evening for Whote. Playing new material as planned, we also took advantage of this moment to begin filming for a video in preparation for the release of Moons.

We got some great footage and are out on location at this time to capture a few more moments. The idea behind this it to shoot the footage, work with the material and then arrange a track specifically for the video. Quite different than the traditional way of making a video but, in the end, I believe the audience will appreciate the effort.

Set list
- Encircling the Village at Dawn
- To Crown the Head of Death
- Moons
- Drone the Skies (Instrument change from guitar to bass)
- Copper, Fire, Bone
- An Instrument of Mars
-  Losing The Saved
- Asleep in the Last Years of Light

Please check out our facebook page and check into whote.org for details on the process and premier dates. Trying to synchronize both a premier and record release date at this time.

Thank you,

Thomas

This above link on SoundCloud is a working edit of how the title track will sound. Right now we are finishing up on arrangements and final edits.  Most of the material recorded in Bushwick has been scrapped and we have started over --opening room for experimentation and improvement. The result serves an eclipsing contrast to ALIGN.

post-studio recording

The intent of going into the studio last month was to find the loud and clear moments and record the sense of immediacy, both written and improvised.  Of course there are a lot of necessary details needed afterwards...

Last week we set up the bass, saw blades and went out to the pier to get sounds. The focus was working with the range of tones from the instruments. Breaks were spent going to the local ferry port and recording sounds of the pier--the humming ferries, helicopters and collapsable catwalks--made a great and diverse (and rather orchestral) drone that should find a nice place on the record...

Studio time

Recording for Whote II started Friday in Bushwick.
We recorded both guitar and bass. Traffic was heavy getting all the gear from Manhattan to Brooklyn and getting the sound right took some time, but the results after all the work sounded phenomenal. No overdubs, tracking or studio foolery, just mic'd the amps and pressed record. Intensity, loud and clear. We're looking forward to getting new material out to the hordes soon!

Thank you, Sean, for offering time to record and for taking the portraits.
